The Punjab Health Initiative Management Company (PHIMC), registered under Section 42 of the Companies Act 2017, is responsible for implementing social health protection initiatives in Punjab. Its focus includes pro-poor health insurance schemes and public-private partnerships to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The Government of Punjab is gradually working toward UHC, initially targeting the poor, special persons, and the transgender community with free health insurance. This aims to improve healthcare access and service quality while reducing financial barriers.
Universal Health Insurance has been introduced across all 36 districts of Punjab under the Sehat Sahulat Program, allowing residents to access health services using their CNICs as health cards. Over 850 public and private hospitals participate in this initiative through the “Qaumi Sehat Card.” PHIMC continues to enhance healthcare delivery within legal and policy frameworks.
